A Participação dos jovens do campo no sindicato dos trabalhadores rurais agricultores e agricultoras familiares - STTR do município de Urandi-BA

Abstract

In this study emanates from a concern, in understanding how the participation of rural youth from Urandi city has been in the union movement. In this sense, the general goal of the work was guided in researching how the participation of rural youth in the Union of Rural Workers family and farmers of the Municipality of Urandi-BA is configured. Further, it was able to understand the concepts of rural unionism in Brazil and peasant youth, systematized the social and union struggles historically experienced by farmers in Urandi and identified factors that positively and negatively interfere in the participation of young people in the Rural Union of the municipality of Urandi. Therefore, there was a basis in some authors such as Rossi (2009), Mattos (2009), Gohn (2011), Coggiola (2010), Bogo (2010), Borges (2006) and Goettert (2001) to discuss unionism and social movements. For the discussion on youth, rural youth and Rural Education, we based on authors such as Castro (2009), Abramo (2014), Rabello (2014) and Caldart (2012). This way, in the course of this writing, there was a discussion divided into three chapters, where in the first an approach was made about the emergence of trade unionism in general as a basis for understanding the beginning of the first union formations and the struggle of the working class for better work conditions. The second chapter was based on the discussion about the concept of youth and rural youth, covering different aspects of this category such as the potentialities that define them and the limitations that exclude, discriminate and discourage young people from society. And finally, the presentation of empirical data and deepening on how these young people are linked to the union, and how the entity has acted to strengthen the link of these subjects in their activities and in the struggle in defense of the working class. The methodology used was based on bibliographic research and a survey of empirical data with five young people from different rural communities in Urandi, through a semi-structured qualitative interview, where it was possible to identify the importance of youth participation in the union and social movement, the need to strengthen the incentive for young people who still don’t participate in occupying the spaces of struggle for rights and improvements in life, and also demonstrated that it is essential regarding the existence of the union as a representation of this class.
