Comportamento e bem-estar de equino nas interações com humanos – revisão de literatura

Abstract

Horses are animals that have inhabited the Earth for about sixty million years, were domesticated around 2,500 BC, and are of great importance to human history. Studies show that domestication allowed man to have a closer relationship with horses, but with positive and negative points during their interactions. This review aims to raise important aspects of the behavior and well-being of horses during interactions with humans, bringing up-to-date concepts about the man-horse relationship, in the most diverse functions performed by horses with humans. From the knowledge of these welfare indicators and respect for the behavioral particularities of horses, it becomes possible to establish a healthier and more balanced relationship. In this way, it is expected to disseminate information that can increase positive experiences for the horse, contributing to its well-being, and bringing greater security in interactions with human beings.
