Plantas medicinais e produtos florestais não madeireiros (PFNMs): produtos utilizados e comercializados em seis municípios do Território do Recôncavo da Bahia

Abstract

The Traditional knowledge associated with the use of elements of flora and all social, cultural and economic relatioships correlated constitute the Ethnobotany science. Ethnobotany is the interdisciplinary science, which currently points to targeted searches through historical knowledge built by traditional peoples and communities in search of new economic potential, particulary of the pharmaceutical industry. The present study sought to verify the existence of traditional use and trade of Medicinal Plants and Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) in six counties of the Territory in the Recôncavo of Bahia: Cachoeira, São Felix, Muritiba , Governador Mangabeira, Cruz das Almas and Sapeaçu all with similar socio-cultural connotations, trying to identify how are established the sociocultural relations with the environment and with the resources of flora. For that, it was used a identification frame traditional uses of the, capturing images of botanical species and semi-structured interviews to investigate the socio-cultural data. Through this work it was possible to identify the existence of commercial activity of plant resources in these locations, and understand how the traditional use is fundamental element of the culture of the region under study, as well as identify the sources of origin of such resources , product types , indications use and the main problems related to the subject. Within this work, was given the opportunity to brief discussions and if raised some questions about the actions and strategies of the public power in managing resources of medicinal flora and their adaptation to the socio-cultural realities and economic-environmental that are established.
