Mercado de trabalho para professores: entre expectativas de Ingressantes e a realidade de egressos da Licenciatura em Biologia da UFRB

Abstract

The present work called Job Market for Teachers: between the expectations of newcomers and the reality of graduates of the Graduation in Biology at UFRB, had the objective to understand the expectations of the insertion in the labor market between newcomers and graduates of the course of Biology Degree at UFRB. As specific objectives, the research sought to build the profile of recent graduates of the degree in Biology at UFRB in relation to their professional and academic ties after the conclusion of the course; to identify the expectations of newcomers and newcomers regarding their insertion in the labor market; identify, from the perspective of the students (incomes and new graduates), which are the main elements that interfere in the fulfillment of their expectations regarding the insertion in the job market. The work was qualitative in nature, with a descriptive approach and was developed at Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia, headquarter campus in the city of Cruz das Almas. Subjects were 20 students and 27 graduates of the Graduation in Biology at UFRB. For the data collection, two questionnaires were used, one for the entrants and the other for the graduates. In view of the results, it was possible to realize that a large part of the entrants (43%) and the graduates (48%) chose this course because they liked or had a certain affinity with the education area. About their expectations in the labor market, factors such as low wages, career devaluation and difficulties to obtain jobs were mentioned by the two groups participating in the research. The results also showed that only 9 (33%) of the 27 graduates were acting as teachers, and when analyzed after completing the course, 9 (33%) of the 27 condition, and of these, only two are doing post-graduation in the area of education. The results of the research demonstrate the need for start-up teachers to be followed up by their institution with the intention of helping them to enter the labor market and specific area of their activity.
