Caracterização fenotípica da sucupira preta (Bowdichia virgilioides K.) em Mata Atlântica do Recôncavo da Bahia

Abstract

Bowdichia virgilioides K., popularly known as Sucupira preta, is a species belonging to the Fabaceae family, subfamily Faboideae. Classified as a tree species of high stature, it can reach up to 20m in height and has a trunk diameter of up to 0.60m. It is considered native, occurring in almost all Brazilian biomes, with high commercial value added by the timber industry and relevant importance in environmental conservation research. However, it has been suffering damage by anthropic action and to maintain the genetic diversity of the population of this species. The help of conservation and genetic improvement programs present in universities and other research institutions is necessary. The objective of this work was the phenotypic characterization of populations of this species in the Recôncavo da Bahia. The work was carried out with 39 genotypes of Sucupira preta, found in the municipalities of São Felipe and Nazaré. Morphometric data of the tree were used: Height of Stem (HH), Circumference at Breast Height (CAP) and Diameter at Breast Height (DBH). A low similarity was found in relation to the AF (5431.5), and greater variability in the CAP (16138.5) and DBH (1635.1638). The cluster analysis showed the formation of three distinct groups, placing the genotypes G21 and G38, from the population of sucupira-preta de Nazaré showing greater genetic distance.
