Determinação da densidade básica da madeira e dimensões das fibras de eucalipto urograndis em dois sítios

Abstract

In Brazil, species of the genus Eucalyptus are widely used in forestry industries due to their easy adaptation in environments with different soil and climatic characteristics, their physical and chemical properties, and the short cutting cycle. And to supply the demand has been inserted in several other regions in the Brazilian territory However, there is a possibility that the physiological behavior of the plant differ from others when implanted in another environment. The basic density is one of the most important properties of the wood, being influenced by several factors, that can define the final use of the wood. The objective of this work was to determine the basic density of wood and the fiber size of the Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla clone at eight years of age at two sites with different soil and climatic characteristics. Six trees were collected, three from each environment, which were provided by the company BSC/Copener. Two disks of each height of the trees were removed, 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the commercial height, one for the determination of the basic density of the wood and another to evaluate the dimensions of the fibers. The results showed that the basic density of site 1 had a mean of 0.556 g/cm3 and site 2 presented a mean of 0.542 g/cm3, not statistically varying in relation to the environment. The dimensions of the fibers had averages similar to those found in the literature. The length and diameter of the fibers did not vary statistically in relation to the environment, but the wall thickness and lumen diameter presented averages that varied statistically as a function of the environment.
