Estudo taxonômico da ordem zingiberales do herbário hurb, ocorrentes no Recôncavo da Bahia

Abstract

The Recôncavo da Bahia (Bahia state), has a wide variety of plant species conferred by the richness of its vegetation, characteristic of the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest. Among the various groups in this region are the species of the Order Zingiberales. This order is composed of eight families with rhizomatous tree herbaceous, with large leaves of parallel poison, robust and very colorful inflorescences. Some species have characteristics and peculiarities that give great importance in various areas such as medicinal, food, ecological, and an ornamental aspect. However, they are still poorly recognized in herbariums due to the presence of deliquescent flowers. Given this and the importance of recognizing such species deposited in the Reconcavo of Bahia Herbarium (HURB), it is evident the need to study this Order in the context of the region where the HURB Herbarium is located. For this, a taxonomic study was carried out based on the collections of families of Zingiberales deposited in the HURB collected in municipalities of the Recôncavo da Bahia basin. In the present study, five genera and 19 species of the Order Zingiberales were identified. The corresponding families were Cannaceae, Costaceae, Heliconiaceae, Marantaceae and Zingiberaceae. Among the families studied that presented the highest representation in HURB was Marantaceae, with five species. Characters such as color and shape of the inflorescence bracts, fruit morphology, shape and photographs of the identification leaf bar. In addition, an identification key was elaborated for the species found and phenological data and illustrative material for some species were presented.
