Políticas públicas de reafricanização: tombamento dos Terreiros de Candomblé no Estado da Bahia

Abstract

This research work, “Public Policies for Re-africanization: Heritage Protection of the Candomblé Terreiros in the State of Bahia”, was developed from bibliographic data and field research, with the use of three theoretical and methodological procedures: documentary research, interviews and study case. Its object of study is the policy of protection and preservation of the heritage for African origin religions, specifically the heritage protection of candomblé terreiros (temples) located in the State of Bahia. Therefore, the general goal of this research is to analyze the procedures of the processes of heritage protection of the candomblé terreiros performed by IPHAN in the State of Bahia. The core problem refers to the absence of understanding of the state structures regarding the hermeneutics of the African origin religions and the non-observance of fundamental rights in the processes of heritage protection of the terreiros located in the State of Bahia. The method used for the analysis is based on the hermeneutic-dialectic method, predominantly for qualitative data. The outcome of the information that was found is presented in four final products; three of them have the goal of assisting the managers of the terreiros so that they have more autonomy in their relationship with the Public Authorities, and reducing the clear discretion that is present in the decisions of the heritage protection processes.
