Abstract

This research discusses the commercialization of free-range hens and community development, starting with the implementation of the Socioambiental Project for the Creation of the free-range hens, with chicken coop and brooder, in the Community Association of Maribondo, Candeal and Maxixe, formed by family farmers, located in Rural communities of Maribondo, located in the Municipality of Muritiba, in the Territory of the Recôncavo da Bahia, where 20 families from the community benefited from the installation of 1 chicken coop in their family production unit. It is evidenced that there is a great concern for the farmers who are part of the project, in the form of commercialization of the free-range Hens, so a case study was done with the objective of presenting the obstacles faced by the farmers in the commercialization of the birds.The research was carried out through the qualitative research, having as instruments of information collection the questionnaire, semi-structured interviews in which information was collected with a certain public, being necessary in this process, visits to the rural properties, and participation in meetings of the Association. The results demonstrate that all the interviewees have difficulties in the commercialization of the birds, and even facing such difficulties, the project contributes to the development not only of the beneficiary families but also the progress of the whole community, strengthening the agriculture in the region.
