Periodontite alveolar em eqüino: relato de caso

Abstract

When taming the equine and to modify his/her form completely of living, as, the one that, as and when he/she eats, the as to walk and to train, all those changes take the a compromising of his/her natural dental formation that consequently unchain a series of dental afecções. The periodontite is the inflammation of the periodonto, this is an afecção that more it affects the animals. About 75% of the equine ones above 6 years already has some related problem the periodontite. A very important factor for this is due to the lack of exam periodic odontológico. The consultations routine odontológicas, are not common and they are of extreme importance, an animal with pain in the teeth or in any other structure of the oral cavity it doesn't triturate the foods that it can unchain several problems mainly gastrointestinais well. The digesting problems became the main causes of illnesses and deaths in the equine ones, thinking about the prevention of illnesses is important the good operation of the buccal apparel, because to the mastication it is of fundamental importance, for the good operation of the organism of the horse (SWENSON; REECE 1996).
